Used Caravan Seller’s Guide
We want to help you to both sell your caravan quickly and for the best achievable price. To do this we would like to share some of our experience with you when it comes to advertising and completing a deal on your van. They are suggestions and not rules of the site so please take and use what you would like.
● Clean the caravan thoroughly both inside and out before taking photos and make sure it is clean before each viewing you book.
● Upload lots of photos, you can add up to 10 photos on each advert, potential buyers like to see lots of photos before travelling any distance.
Use a FEATURE advert (ok, it costs £5, but it puts your van in a prominent position on the website)
Use good quality photos and give your prospective buyer a photo tour of the van. If any damage then it may be worth a photo to illustrate that so that a buyer, on viewing your van is expecting that bit of damage or imperfection. Your first photo is free, the next 9 (your max is 10) are charged at £1 each
● Have a full caravan service, there are many local workshops on this site who will service your caravan and provide a report stating its condition which will give any buyer confidence.
● It is better and clearer for all involved if you advertise your ‘selling price’ it saves awkward moments of negotiations and also prices your van better than some ‘advertised’ prices.
● Consider placing your advert so that it also appears in the local papers; the more people that see your advert the more interest it will raise.
● Write a complete description of your caravan including all items you will be giving with any sales. For help with writing a description look at some of the trade sellers on this site to see the details they include.
Take the general points from the Caravan guide above. Make sure the canvas is in good condition. Be honest about the general condition. Assemble the poles to make sure they are all there. Clean up & straighten pegs, replace rubbers and guys, it makes a much better impression of a well cared for awning. Do measure the awning length before advertising- this can save a lot of frustrating time for buyer and seller. Memory is not a good indicator here!
Clean up & straighten pegs, replace rubbers and guys, it makes a much better impression of a well cared for unit. Get your unit serviced (chassis and gas and electrical) before advertising. It makes your unit more desirable and builds confidence in its condition.
